Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1 1/2 tsp ground cloves
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2/3 cup butter or shortening
- 1 1/2 cups light brown sugar
- 2 large eggs, well beaten
- 2 tbsp fancy molasses
- 1 cup chopped raisins
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Preparation
Preheat the oven 350ºF. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper. Set them aside.
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, spices and salt. Set them aside.
In another large bowl, using an electric mixer, cream together the butter and brown sugar. Once light and fluffy, add the eggs and molasses. Gradually, add the flour mixture and mix until combined. Stir in the raisins and walnuts. Drop spoonfuls of cookie dough onto the baking sheets. Bake until the cookies are golden and have set, about 15 minutes.
Serve immediately or store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
