Whether you like it or not, the holidays are coming, and one of the most important parts of the season is sitting down with family and friends. You want your holiday table to be just right and these easy decorating tips are sure to help take the pressure off of creating a stunning holiday table.
What’s Your Theme?
The first thing you want to do, before hitting the stores, is to decide on a theme. Matching your decor to your meal will help add to the atmosphere. Are you making a classic meal? Stick to traditional holiday colours, textures and settings such as greens, plaids, rattans and woods.

Layer Your Tablescape
Layering will add visual interest to your table. Start at the bottom with your linens and chargers and work your way up, stacking plates and adding cutlery. You’ll want to add your decorative accessories and florals last, after you’ve planned out your table settings and serving dishes. Make sure your table is set before your guests arrive so you can focus on entertaining.
Add A Personal Touch
Make your guests feel extra special by adding personalized place cards or name tags. Take the opportunity to get creative with your decorative accessories.

Bring In Natural Accents
Wood, linen, jute, branches and acorns add a festive holiday touch to your table. You can combine these elements for texture and depth. Cutting trimmings from your tree or backyard is a great way to introduce greens like pine and spruce and add to the festive atmosphere.

Light The Night
Finally, light up an evening gathering and create a cozy ambiance with candle light. It’s perfect for evening soirees and to add height and depth to your tablescape. Place the candles along the length of the table at various heights. For added interest, use varying styles of candlesticks.
